Natural Cleaners for the Body
Spring cleaning is not just for your home. Here are two recipes that will help you to cleanse and rejuvenate your body.
Lemon Water Recipe
Half a lemon squeezed into warm water each morning wakes up your system, gets things moving and keeps your liver and kidneys happy. Add a little raw honey if desired.
Green Smoothie Recipe
In a blender combine 1 or 2 handfuls of raw spinach, kale or other soft greens, 1 ripe banana, fresh or frozen berries, 1 T coconut butter or oil or 1/2 an avocado and 1.5 cups of coconut water or plain water.
For protein, try adding 1 T of hempseed, chia seed or a scoop of whey protein powder.

Natural Cleaners for the Home
Using commercial cleaning products is damaging for the environment and your health. There are many natural alternatives on the market, but why not save money and time by making your own?
- I use this easy recipe for an all-purpose cleaner that works on just about any surface: http://www.oprah.com/world/Gorgeously-Green-All-Purpose-Spray. It is both antibacterial and anti-viral.
- For most wooden surfaces, use fresh lemon juice mixed with olive oil, applied with a soft rag. Always test on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure that the furniture will not be discolored.
- For glass, I like to mix white vinegar with water about 50:50 and slightly stronger for soap scum.
I also want to mention that it is possible to keep a home clean without using wasteful paper towels. For everyday cleaning, use rags made from old tee shirts or facecloths. I also love the super absorbent Shamwow cloths (you know, the ones from TV), they work surprisingly well.
