Recipe of the Month Nettle Infusion

May 10, 2010

Nettle infusions are super easy to make and have huge benefits. Start off by purchasing high quality dried Nettle leaf. I buy my Nettle leaf online from Banyan Botanicals, who I really trust to have a quality product. If you are going to buy nettle from a store, make sure it is organic and is a rich dark green. Never buy anything in tea bags, capsules or leaves that are brown/black in color.

Recipe of the Month Nettle Infusion

Add about an ounce of dried nettle leaf to a quart size canning jar and fill with boiling water. Stir the mixture well and cap tightly. Let the nettle steep for 4-8 hours on the counter top, away from direct sunlight, then strain and drink hot or cold.  You can add lemon, honey or maple

Stir the mixture well and cap tightly. Let the nettle steep for 4-8 hours on the countertop, away from direct sunlight, then strain and drink hot or cold.  You can add lemon, honey or maple syrup, if desired.

Refrigerate extra infusion and use within 2 days. If you are not able to use it up in this time, you can use the leftover infusion as a hair rinse or as a great fertilizer for potted plants.
